High speed networking ADCs

A family of ADC devices is being developed for digitizing 32…128 analog signals with maximum simultaneous sample rates in the 2…10 MHz range. These devices will have 1 Gbit or 10 Gbit Ethernet interface and send data directly to PC memory. This way the amount of data to be taken is only limited by PC memory. With multiple SSD drives streaming to hard disk would also be possible.

A sample 1 Gbit ADC device is being tested with the following features:

  • 32 channels, 0-2 V input range, singe ended and differential inputs.
  • 14 bit resolution, 10-30 MHz internal sampling rate.
  • Digital filter and resampling in ADC.
  • 1 Gbit  communication with computer.
  • 2 MHz sustained final sample rate. (Up to 10 MHz with reduced number of channels.)

A 10 Gbit version is being designed with the following features:

  • Modularly expandable by 32 channel blocks, maximum 128 channels.
  • 14 bit resolution, 10-30 MHz internal sampling rate.
  • Digital filter and resampling in ADC.
  • 10 Gbit optical  communication with computer.
  • 4 MHz sustained final sample rate with 128 channels, higher speed with reduced channel number.
